Liam Gallagher has sent a public message of support to Harry Kane after he lost his voice celebrating the England win. The football captain, 32, scored the penalty that that gave his country’s team a 3-2 win over Mexico in the early hours of Monday morning, and now England has made it through to the quarter finals against Norway.

Following the mammoth victory, Harry was interviewed by the BBC but was struggling to speak and told cameras that he had “lost his voice” singing Wonderwall, which Liam enjoyed as a major hit along with Oasis in 1995.

After hearing the interview, Liam took to Instagram himself to weigh in on the situation, as he quipped: “It’s hard work that singing Harry Kane cmon ENGLAND cmon WONDERWALL.”

It was then that a fan replied to his tweet and asked him to perform it live on the pitch should England make the final, and Liam, who reunited with his brother Noel for an Oasis tour last year, teased that he would.

The fan wrote: “Guessing it’s we do hit the final you know it’s mandatory you fly out there and sing wonderwall live on the pitch,” and he responded: “We’ll see I’m ready.”

While speaking to the cameras, Harry said through a croaky voice after the match: “My voice has gone. It was a crazy game, we had to fight. We had to find something. I’ve just been singing there, I can’t really talk, all the occasion, the team. Everything was against us, we found a way. I’m speechless, I can’t even talk.”

After a cagey opening half an hour, England took the lead when Jude Bellingham headed in Bukayo Saka ’s cross. Things got better for Thomas Tuchel’s side just two minutes later when Bellingham got his second of the game just seconds later after the ball was won high by Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane crossed for his team-mate to finish.

In a dramatic few minutes, Mexico halved the deficit when Julian Quinones scored from a set-piece before half-time. England were then put under pressure, but had Jordan Pickford to thank for going in ahead.

Things took an even more dramatic turn in the second half. After a VAR review, right-back Jarrel Quansah was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge.

But a few minutes later, Harry Kane made no mistake from the penalty spot to make it 3-1 to 10-man England after Anthony Gordon was fouled in the box.

For beating Mexico, England have set up a quarter-final meeting with Norway. Erling Haaland’s brace saw his team come out as 2-1 winners over five-time champions Brazil in their round of 16 clash.

The game will be played on Saturday, 11 July at 10pm. Should they overcome Norway, the semi-final on Wednesday, 15 July (8pm) will see them come up against one of Switzerland, Colombia, Argentina or Egypt.
