Katie Lee Biegel is opening up about a painful kitchen injury.
The Food Network star revealed the accident, which happened while filming her new YouTube series, in an Instagram Stories video on Wednesday, March 18, according to TV Insider.
“In all my years of cooking, I have never cut myself,” she said. “I sliced through my fingernail, like, cut my fingernail off, basically, while filming a new episode of It’s Not Complicated. So lovely.”
“But it’s a good reminder for you guys to watch,” she added.
A later post, captioned “One day, I’ll have a fingernail again…,” showed her with a bandaged finger.
On Thursday, March 19, Biegel shared another update on her Instagram Stories.
“I will live. I will survive. But I’m definitely going to take the sympathy between now and when it gets better,” she said in the clip.
The chef, 44, announced the launch of It’s Not Complicated in an Instagram post last month.

“I’m so excited to invite you into our home,” she wrote on Feb. 13 adding that her husband, TV producer Ryan Biegel, worked on the project.
“ @ryanbiegel filmed me, along with the help of a few of our friends,” she continued. “We’d love to know what you think, and what you want to see more (or less) of, and the types of recipes you would like. We hope you have as much fun watching it as we had making it.”
The cookbook author, who’s been married Ryan since 2018, was the third wife of Billy Joel. She and the music legend met in 2002 and married in 2004, ultimately divorcing in 2009.
When Katie recently appeared on the podcast Bobby on the Beat, host Bobby Flay praised her for how she navigated the high profile romance and eventual split, calling her “an amazing role model for younger women.”
“You were in this position when you were young, you met this person who was like literally an icon in the world,” Flay told her. “And that can be a very, very difficult thing to try to handle. And you had a really nice relationship.”
“I was there. I mean, I remember this,” he added. “Obviously, it came to a close, but in a very nice way. You just kind of went on from there. Like you didn’t kind of like cover up and get all depressed and go and hide and run.”

Flay said he thought of that resilience when he learned her long-running Food Network show The Kitchen was ending last fall.
“I was like, ‘Katie’s got this,’” Flay said. “I’m not worried about Katie at all. This is just a speed bump and she’s gonna take the experience that she has and she’s going to multiply the opportunities. I really believe that.”
Katie replied, “I’m gonna come here more often because you’re so good for my self esteem.”
