Coronation Street’s Summer Spellman ‘doesn’t know what she’ll do’ as Theo Silverton exposed
Summer Spelmman exposes Theo Silverton for being involved in the death of her guardian, Billy Mayhew
Coronation Street star Harriet Bibby has admitted she ‘doesn’t know’ what her character ‘will do’ as she exposes Theo Silverton for being involved in the death of her guardian, Billy Mayhew.
As those who follow the ITV soap know, Debbie Webster recently had to serve prison time after she pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and causing the death of local vicar Billy following a horror multi-vehicle crash earlier this year, when really it was Carl Webster who was behind the wheel at the time of the incident.
Viewers will recall that a grieving Summer was quick to pin the blame of Billy’s death onto Debbie, and wanted to see her sent down for what she thought was her crimes.
However, Debbie has since been released from behind bars and she’s been trying to get back into the swing of things by heading back to work at the Chariot Square Hotel. But last week, viewers saw Summer spot Debbie, before marching over in search of answers about the night Billy died.
Summer outright asked Debbie if she was covering for someone, and wasn’t actually driving the car at the time of the crash. When Carl’s name was mentioned, Debbie tried to hurry away, seemingly giving Summer the confirmation she needed.
As Ryan Connor approached, a flustered Debbie ended up grabbing the hot plates he had just picked up from the kitchen and as she cried out in pain, Ryan encouraged her to drop the plates while trainee paramedic Asha Alahan rushed in to help. Carl also arrived to see the fiasco unfolding, but was confronted by an angry Summer who made it clear she knew what he had done.
Later, back the flat, Debbie asked Carl what they were going to do about Summer now that she knows the truth. Bumping into Carl, Summer was told she should look closer to home for the truth about what happened, leaving her more confused than ever.
However, during Sunday’s (April 12) episode of Corrie, Summer is seen confiding in Asha Alahn about her suspicions that someone other than Carl was involved in Billy’s death, asking her friend what she remembers about the crash.
Eventually, in the Rovers, Summer met with Todd and was shocked when he also confirmed that he’s off to Belfast tomorrow with Theo. Thinking it’s the last chance she’ll get to share her concerns, Summer told him that Carl told her someone else was involved in Billy’s death, and that while she thinks Theo could be capable, she didn’t know why he’d want Billy dead.
Speaking about Summer’s theory, Harriet said: “I do think that Summer believes Theo is capable of murder. Obviously recently she’s been grieving for Billy and so has been quite blinded by that grief and unable to see anything else that’s happening. I don’t think she’s seen it in him until this point, but I think when her suspicions do start to come out, it’s like that moment where the penny drops.
“Suddenly everything makes sense. There’s been some odd moments that have been glazed over for whatever reason and now she’s seen it she can’t unsee it. She does think he’s very capable of doing what he did.”
Sharing why this makes her worried for Todd, the soap star shared: “I think she’s panicking because she has got this whole weight on her of dealing with Billy’s death and feeling very alone but now she’s worried for Todd too because he might be in a vulnerable position and really, he’s all Summer has left. If anything happens to him, I don’t know what she’d do.”
