The shocking Beckham family feud has been the talk of the showbiz world for some time, particularly since eldest son Brooklyn, who has been estranged from his entire family, dropped a bombshell statement about them earlier this month which makes any reunion seem like pie in the sky now.

A host of celebrities have not been shy about showing where their loyalties lie amid the continuing furore – and now, one rather unlikely A-lister has waded into the debate.

American rapper Snoop Dogg – who DJ-ed at Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz now notorious wedding – has revealed he is most definitely Team David – and that he and the footballing legend have actually been good friends for over two decades. The iconic hip hop star said warmly of Victoria’s other half that no matter what, he knows for Sir David, family always comes first.

Snoop told the Mirror, “David is my boy, we have been friends for over 20 years now. We have seen each other’s kids grow up, and one thing about David is that he is a family man.” He added, “It doesn’t matter what level of success he has had in his life, there ain’t nothing more important to him than his family.”

And the 54-year-old father of four believes there is hope that the family can put this messy chapter behind them, in time. “No family is perfect right, but when you are a family in the public eye it’s hard – it’s even more of a pressure. I know the love that family has for each other – and in time, they are gonna work things out.”

It’s little surprise that the West Coast rap star has spoken out in support of David, the man he calls a ‘brother’. Though they make an unlikely double act, their friendship goes way back, with David supporting Snoop’s tours and their families connecting over the years.

Snoop previously spoke of sending David his music for some feedback, before releasing it. And they have collaborated together on projects including their Adidas Originals campaign – and David, 50, has even appeared on US reality show Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, which ran for two sessions on E! In 2007, when he’d just signed for Los Angeles Galaxy.

The former Manchester United legend popped up in the second episode, entitled Snoop It Like Beckham, where he tried – unsuccessfully – to introduce Snoop’s children, Cordé, Cordell, and Cori to football at their LA home, before Snoop took his pal to Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n’ Waffles.

But back in 2023, Snoop gushed about the ‘natural attraction’ between the pair, which dates back to his own notorious Death Row Records heyday and the peak of David’s global footie stardom.

He said at the time, ‘We’ve been friends since the early nineties. We love the same things. We love to win. We love to work hard. We’re family men, and people love us. We’re naturally attracted to each other. We built the friendship years and years ago. He created a family, and I created a family.’

Recalling David’s input in his reality show, he reminisced, “’When I had my show Father Hood on the E! Channel he came on and did some things with my kids about his football,’ he recalled.

‘His babies were real little babies then, but when he come to see me the other day he brings his babies with him and they’re grown now. We’ve just grown as a friendship, as a brotherhood and as a family.’

He also revealed at the time that he’d given David’s son Cruz, then a budding singer and now ready to perform a sellout show in London, a special gift, as well as some tips on how to make it in the music business. “’I gave him some real good advice. Then I gave him a Death Row chain and told him to own it.”

A true family man himself, the rapper is not only a father of four but a doting grandfather, something he said has changed him profoundly. He said, “Being a grandfather has changed me in multiple ways,’ he said. ‘The main way is being concerned with how I live, how I move, the kind of people I’m associated with, because I want to see my grandkids grow old.”

No doubt, the rapper and proud family man is hurting for his friend amid Brooklyn’s ongoing estrangement from the rest of his family.

The feud is thought to have begun in earnest in the run-up to Brooklyn and his actress wife Nicola Pelt’z lavish wedding in 2022 in Palm Beach, Florida – and has since seen Brooklyn miss a series of milestones, including David’s 50th birthday bash last year and his recent Knighthood.

But it took a devastating turn when Brooklyn launched his blistering attack on the rest of the Beckham clan earlier this month.

In the scathing attack, he accused his designer mother of ‘dancing inappropriately’ at his wedding and hijacking his first dance with his new bride – as well as having been ‘controlled’ by his family his entire life. Slamming his parents as ‘controlling and manipulative’, he said he had no wish to reconcile with them.

David, Victoria and their other children Cruz, Romeo and Harper have not addressed his comments explicitly, choosing so far to maintain a dignified silence, as they reunited – without Brooklyn and Nicola – in Paris recently.

Meanwhile, across the pond Brooklyn, 26, has been at pains to point out that not only life goes on, but he is very happy indeed – looking like a weight had lifted and packing on the PDA as he whisked his wife off for a swish dinner in Beverley Hills on Wednesday, a week after publicly denouncing his family.

The couple’s outing comes after they shared a series of loved-up Instagram posts, documenting their luxury stay – including cracking open a bottle of one of the world’s most expensive dessert wines, worth some £17k a bottle.
