Manchester, UK – Scott Brand, husband of renowned actress Julie Goodyear, recently shared his heartfelt emotions about life with his wife, who is living with dementia.
Scott revealed that every day with Julie comes with its challenges: “She often tells me to ‘go away’ every single day. It truly breaks my heart to hear that, but I understand that it’s her illness speaking, and it makes me love her even more.”
He explained that, although it can be exhausting and sometimes upsetting to face his wife’s words and actions, he remains patient and devoted, seeing it as both his responsibility and a way to express his love: “I know she can’t control her behavior. I want to endure that pain on her behalf, so she can feel at peace.”
Julie Goodyear, famous for her role as Bet Lynch in Coronation Street, was diagnosed with dementia in 2023. The condition affects her memory and cognitive abilities, making everyday life challenging.
Scott shared that, despite the difficulties, he still finds small moments of joy with Julie and hopes to raise public awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia. “Love isn’t just about happy days. It’s about enduring, being patient, and staying by your partner’s side when they need you most,” he said.
Fans and colleagues of Julie have expressed their sympathy and admiration for Scott’s steadfast love, highlighting the power and significance of devotion in the most difficult circumstances.
