Ree Drummond was moved to tears when his niece Sofia turned 1 year old: “She’s an amazing and wonderful baby.”

The Pioneer Woman star’s daughter Alex Drummond Scott welcomed Sofia with husband Mauricio Scott on Dec. 18, 2024. A year later, the family’s emotions are flowing as Sofia hits her milestone birthday.

The 28-year-old shared a montage of her daughter’s moments over the last 12 months on Thursday, Dec. 18. Clips included Alex crying in the hospital bed immediately after giving birth, the newborn cuddling with the young parents’ golden retriever, George, and Sofia playing with Ree. At the end of the video, Sofia’s crib could be seen full of balloons while the birthday girl wore a party hat with the number one on it.

“The most magical year of our lives. 🩷 Happy first birthday to our sweet Sofia! Forever our baby girl,” Alex wrote in the caption.

The comment section was filled with loving notes to the family, including some from members of the Drummond crew.

Ree’s younger daughter, Paige, wrote, “Sweet sweet Sofia 🩷🩷🩷 I don’t know what life would be like without you!! We love you 🥹😘” Meanwhile, the cookbook author commented, “Sobbing!! Sofia, you have changed our lives for better and forever. Our little magnificent magical baby. ❤️🥹”

The Drummonds have kept followers updated on Sofia’s triumphs this past year. Most recently, in early-December, Alex told Instagram followers that her daughter now has three names in her budding vocabulary: Mama, Dada and Bubba (also known as George).

Earlier this year, Ree admitted that she didn’t think she was ready to be a grandma, but gushed that she was “loving” it.

“When your firstborn has a baby that looks exactly like she looked, you get to relive all the delicious feelings of first-time motherhood, but without the sleep deprivation, hormones, and confusion,” she captioned a video of Sofia in March.

“I didn’t think I was ready yet to cross over to the granny side of the street, but Lord in Heaven… I am loving it and I’m so grateful for this gift,” she wrote.
