The blonde beauty used her own experience to defend the Guthrie family against critics who questioned their handling of the case, stating there is “no script” for how families should react to such trauma.
âI noticed a lot of people attacking Savannah. âWhy didnât you pay the ransom? Why didnât you pay sooner? Why didnât you this, that?ââ she said. âThereâs no script for what youâre supposed to do. I think Savannah and her brother and sister, Annie and Camron, did everything they were physically able to do at that moment.â

The former HLN host said she doesnât believe that ransom was a motive, despite some outside observersâ theories.
âI knew at the beginning something was off, in that the ransom was not requested immediately,â she explained. âYou take somebody, you want to feed them for a week, and then ask for the money? No. You want the money, then you want it to be over with â you want to get the h— out of town.â

Nancyâs fiancĂ© was 23 years old when he was shot five times by a disgruntled former coworker outside a convenience store in Georgia. The tragedy transformed the star from an English major into a lifelong advocate for crime victims and a prosecutor.
âWhen my fiancĂ© was murdered, I didnât even want to say words. I felt like going out in the dark, in the woods, and just howling like an animal,â shetold host Sean Hannity. âI didnât have words to say. It was so awful â not just losing him, but to a violent crime. Stupid, senseless â for what? For nothing!â
Nancy was reported missing from her home in Tucson, Ariz., on January 31. Her family has publicly pleaded for information as a $1 million reward remains available.
