“Adulting is hard nowadays. Job opportunities aren’t what they used to be. Michael had a writing job lined up after graduation, but it evaporated because the pandemic shut everything down. We gave him some extra time to find his path because it was a tough moment for all young adults.”

The Consuelos family has also been navigating a profound personal loss. In March, Michael, Joaquin, and their sister Lola faced the death of their grandfather, Saul Consuelos, after a lengthy illness. Mark Consuelos reflected on his father’s life on Live:
“He came here from Mexico as a teen, served 30 years in the Navy, earned a master’s degree while I was growing up, and loved his country deeply. If you’re looking for the face of an immigrant pursuing the American dream, it would be him.”
Kelly Ripa revealed how deeply the family felt the loss:
“This is the first loss our kids have ever experienced. I’ll miss him every day for the rest of my life, and I know our children will too.”
