Chef Lambert “Lambo” Givens, executive chef of Hunter’s Kitchen & Bar in South Boston, was crowned the champion on Guy Fieri’s “Flavortown Food Fight” Wednesday night, May 20, on the Food Network.

The competition pits chefs against each other as they compete in an “ever-changing lineup of out-of-the-box restaurants, from food carts to fine dining,” according to the show’s description. The winner takes home $20,000.
“Still trying to take this all in, and I’m incredibly grateful,” Givens wrote in an Instagram post on Friday. “Winning Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Food Fight is such a special moment, and I don’t take any part of it for granted.”
Givens competed in a seafood competition where he prepared gumbo chowder, called on the show a “chumbo,” and seafood pad Thai. The chef’s culinary chops were enough to win over the judges, including James Beard Award winner Johnathan Sawyer, who said, “I can put a bib on and bury my face in it” while tasting Givens’ food.
Givens’ latest win marks his third Food Network appearance. The chef won “Beat Bobby Flay” in 2022 and appeared as a finalist on “Chopped” in 2025.
“None of this would be possible without the love, support, and encouragement of my family, my friends, and the community around me. The people who have believed in me, checked in on me, pushed me when I needed it, and supported me through every season of this journey mean everything to me,” Givens wrote on Instagram. “Boston has shown me so much love, and I carry that with me every day with a full heart. To now be the Mayor of Flavortown is a true honor, and I’m thankful for everyone who helped make this dream a reality. Proud to bring the championship to the City of Champions.”
Givens is known for his elevated Southern comfort food, including his signature gumbo made with shrimp, crab, andouille sausage and Charleston rice. The chef’s food has attracted major celebrities including actor and comedian Marlon Wayans, who ate at Hunter’s this past March.
Under his leadership, Hunter’s earned Boston Magazine’s “Best Brunch” distinction in 2025. Givens has also earned several culinary honors himself. Earlier this month, he was named the 2026 Boston Lamb Jam Champion.
In addition, Get Konnected! selected Givens to receive its prestigious “Rising Star Under 40” Award as part of the organization’s inaugural “50 Most Influential People of Color & Allies in Hospitality & Tourism” celebration.
Patrons can try Givens’ food by visiting Hunter’s Kitchen & Bar at 110 Dorchester St., Boston. The restaurant’s business hours can be found on its website.
