Guy Fieri is back with a big announcement for Food Network fans: the Flavortown Cinematic Universe is getting a major expansion this spring. The Mayor of Flavortown himself will welcome worthy chefs to compete for cash prizes on his all-new TV series, and for the first time ever, the fantastical Flavortown will officially come to life through the show’s set design. “The happiest place on EARTH,” cheers one top comment on Food Network’s Instagram announcement post.
The new food competition series, called Flavortown Food Fight, will premiere on the Food Network channel on Mar. 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. You can also stream it the next day on HBO Max and Discovery+.
“For the first time in television history, we’re opening the gates of Flavortown and inviting some of America’s most talented chefs to showcase their skills in a never-ending list of off-the-hook restaurants that you’ll only find here,” said Fieri in a press release. “We’ve been building out this universe for years, and I’m stoked to finally invite everybody in!”
How Flavortown Food Fight Works
Each episode of Flavortown Food Fight is divided into three rounds. The first will be a skills challenge for the competing chefs, followed by two additional cooking challenges. Winning the first round of skills challenges will give competitors an edge going forward, and chefs who prove their cooking prowess will have cash prizes waiting for them at the end of each round.
The real reward, however, is waiting for whoever is left standing at the end of each episode. The chef crowned the winner at the end of the final round will return for the following episode and continue competing, giving them the opportunity to win even more cash prizes. Competitors can snag up to $20,000 per episode, with no limits to how much they can win across the entire season. We’re just hoping their dishes can impress us as much as Guy Fieri’s green bean casserole and pasta salad recipes did.
A Peek into Flavortown
“After years of hearing Guy talk about it, we are so excited to finally give fans a chance to see Flavortown in all its glory,” said Betsy Ayala, head of content, food, Warner Bros. Discovery, in a press release. “We know viewers will love this fresh take on the competition format, and the endless variables will make it one of our most exciting and unpredictable series yet.”
Fieri himself will be in charge of each episode’s theme, and alongside his son, Hunter Fieri, he’ll present each challenge. Competitors will have their dishes assessed by two guest judges before either moving on to the next round or being sent home. Che
