Guy Fieri shared that working with his son Hunter on the Food Network is “what he enjoys the most.”

Guy Fieri may be one of the biggest stars on Food Network, but it’s still precious family time that means the most to him.

Ever since Guy won season 2 of Food Network Star back in 2006, he’s had an incredible run on the hit network. With shows including Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Tournament of Champions, and Guy’s Grocery Games, it seems like he never stops working.

Over the last few years, he’s been able to have his son Hunter by his side, and the two frequently collaborate on the projects Guy has in the works at the network.

So, what’s it like to work with his son on set? As Guy explained to People ahead of the season 7 premiere of Tournament of Champions (premiering March 1), he loves how the duo’s dynamic comes from a place of love.

It turns out, Hunter is also an antithesis to his ongoing TV antics, he added.

“Someone has got to be the counterbalance or the foil,” he joked in the interview published on February 23. “And Hunter is, one, my best friend, and, two, my kid, and three, a really good, aware co-host. He gets it. He knows television, he understands what we need, what we got to do.”

While fans may know that Hunter also has a culinary background (he interned under the Caesar’s group while in college and trained under Gordon Ramsay in London, per People), Guy proudly expressed what really makes his son so great in the food TV industry. It’s more than just Hunter’s unique approach to cooking; Guy also adores how his kid brings his personality to whatever he sets out to do.

“What Hunter pulls off and what he does when he creates is really, it’s Hunter,” he added. “It’s Hunter’s whimsical, funny, creative side. And that’s his part of the deal and it’s my favorite thing.”

We can’t wait to see more when Guy and Hunter team up for Tournament of Champions!
