Britain’s Got Talent viewers were left stunned during the live semi-final on May 23 as judge KSI sparked a wave of concern over his unusual behaviour. The rapper and YouTube star, who joined the show as a permanent judge this year replacing former Strictly star Bruno Tonioli, seemed louder and more unpredictable than ever — leaving some fans questioning if something was off.
Bruno, who stepped down after three memorable series, had previously explained his exit was purely logistical: “There is no animosity, it was a mutual decision. I just couldn’t do the flying anymore. To be honest, it’s a miracle I survived that schedule.” His absence has left a gap KSI was tasked to fill — but not all viewers are convinced he’s the right fit.
On social media, reactions were swift and unflinching. “Is KSI on something?” one fan asked. Another wrote: “Has KSI banged his head? Might be worth getting an MRI scan after the show.” Others questioned his volume and energy: “Why tf is KSI shouting?” and “Why is KSI being weird?”
Criticism didn’t stop there. Many viewers argued KSI’s judging style is out of step with the show’s tone. One X user slammed his comments about a young performer, saying: “KSI talking about Disney’s Elsa ‘Dutty wining’ to a white 12-year-old as critique… he’s not cut out to be a judge.” Others demanded a return of past favourites: “Bring back David Walliams, whatever he did, I forgive him.”
Amid the chaos and confusion, one sentiment was clear: KSI’s style is divisive, and fans are already debating whether he belongs on the BGT panel next year.
Whether this is the start of a bold new chapter or the beginning of controversy, one thing is certain — KSI’s presence is impossible to ignore.
