“END OF AN ERA”: Adam Henson Bids Emotional Farewell to Family Farm After Personal Heartache and Tough Decision with Wife Charlie.

Adam Henson, the beloved Countryfile presenter, has described it as “the end of an era” as he prepares to say goodbye to his family farm in the Cotswolds—marking a poignant new chapter shaped by both personal heartbreak and changing times.

At 59, Adam has confirmed he and wife Charlie will leave the 650-hectare Cotswold Farm Park, where they’ve built both a business and a life rooted in rural tradition. “When the tenancy runs out in 12 years, we’re planning to move to a bungalow nearby in Winchcombe,” he said, adding that they’ll still keep a few sheep and dogs to maintain a sense of connection to the land.

The decision came after their children chose different paths—his daughter now works as an events organiser in Perth, while his son is a financial advisor in Leeds. “Sure, they can lamb a sheep and drive a tractor,” Adam joked, “but they’ve chosen different careers.”

Adam also reflected emotionally on the family legacy he inherited. “My dad was ahead of his time opening a farm for people to visit in 1971. It’s been an incredible journey,” he shared in a heartfelt interview.

But beneath the surface of this rural farewell lies a deeper, more personal struggle. In a candid conversation, Adam revealed the series of hardships he’s faced in recent years: his wife Charlie’s battle with cancer, the death of both his parents, and the heartbreaking loss of his nephew. “I’ve had some very difficult times in my life, both in business and personally,” he admitted.

Despite it all, Adam credited his resilience to the strong support system around him. “I’ve never had poor mental health because I’ve had that fantastic support system—my wife, children, friends, and colleagues. We’re honest, we’re open, and we face everything together.”

Though he’s stepping back from the full-time demands of the farm, Adam remains hopeful: “We’ll still enjoy the countryside we love—it’s not an end, just a new way of living it.”
