Winning Celebrity Traitors didn’t just give Alan Carr bragging rights — it gave him a castle.
The comedian, now 49, has splashed out a jaw-dropping £3.25 million on a grand baroque castle in the Scottish Borders, marking the most dramatic upgrade yet in his post-Traitors comeback.
And fans won’t just be admiring it from afar.
Alan has signed a seven-figure deal with Disney+ to film an all-access renovation series that will take viewers inside the transformation of his sprawling new home — a project he plans to turn into a luxury hotel and spa.
From Traitors Triumph to Turrets and Towers
After his surprise victory on the first-ever Celebrity Traitors, Alan’s career has surged — and it seems the show’s iconic castle setting left a lasting impression.
Now, inspired by the gothic grandeur of Ardross Castle, Alan has bought Ayton Castle, a vast estate boasting:
-
16 bedrooms
-
160 acres of grounds
-
Its own miniature railway
Speaking about the purchase, Alan joked:
“Some men buy a Lamborghini during a midlife crisis. Others grow a ponytail. Me? I wanted my own castle.”
A Childhood Dream — Finally Realised
Alan says owning a stately home has been a lifelong fantasy.
“Since I was a boy growing up in Northampton, I’ve always been enchanted by the history and romance of grand houses,” he said.
“As I turn 50, I thought — why not? All I want is a turret to call my own.”
That dream is now becoming a reality — and a TV spectacle.
Disney+ Cameras Roll on ‘Castle Man’
The renovation series, currently titled Castle Man, will follow Alan as he takes on the enormous task of restoring the historic property.
The show is being produced by Expectation, the powerhouse behind Clarkson’s Farm, and is expected to blend humour, chaos and high-stakes restoration — very much in Alan’s trademark style.
Insiders say the format will feel familiar to fans of his renovation shows with Amanda Holden — but on a much grander scale.
What This Means for Alan’s BBC Shows
Alan’s packed schedule has already had knock-on effects.
With the Disney+ project gearing up, his hit BBC renovation series with Amanda Holden — The Italian Job — is expected to take a break this year, with scheduling clashes making filming impossible.
Sources say the show isn’t cancelled — just paused — as both stars juggle multiple projects and hunt for a new destination they’re equally excited about.
A Career Busier Than Ever
On top of the castle project, Alan is also:
-
Signing up for two additional streaming shows
-
Filming a new Amazon Prime series, The F** List*
-
Preparing for a major stand-up tour that will dominate most of 2027
The Amazon series will see Alan travel with fellow comedians to tick off “must-do” life experiences across Iceland, the Canary Islands, and parts of the UK.
From TV Favourite to Property Power Move
Once best known for panel shows and chatty humour, Alan Carr is now firmly in his empire-building era — mixing comedy, property, and premium streaming in a way few presenters have pulled off.
A castle.
A Disney+ deal.
And a career that’s never looked busier.
As Alan himself might put it:
If you’re going to have a midlife crisis — you might as well do it in a castle. 🏰✨
