Season 7 of BBQ Brawl is set to deliver one of its most dramatic shake-ups yet, driven by the real-life relationship between beloved chefs Bobby Flay and Brooke Williamson.

Premiering May 11 at 9 p.m. on Food Network, the new season will feature a significant format change. Brooke, who has served as a judge since Season 2, will now step into the role of team captain—joining Bobby and returning champion Maneet Chauhan.
The decision stems from Bobby and Brooke’s relationship, which began in March 2025. As their connection became public, the two made a clear agreement: they would not judge each other in any competition setting. That rule ultimately made it impossible for Brooke to remain on the judging panel, paving the way for her long-awaited move into a more hands-on role.
For years, Brooke had expressed interest in becoming a mentor on the show, but the opportunity never aligned with her judging duties. Now, with the new dynamic in place, she will not only guide a team of pitmasters but also go head-to-head with Bobby—something fans have never seen before.
The shift is expected to bring a fresh level of excitement to the competition. Both Bobby and Brooke are known for their competitive nature, and their on-screen chemistry could add a mix of intensity and lighthearted rivalry. While their personal relationship introduces a unique storyline, both chefs are widely regarded as consummate professionals who will keep their focus on the competition.
Filmed at Star Hill Ranch in Austin, Texas, this season will feature 12 pitmasters battling for the title of “Master of ‘Cue.” Contestants come from across the United States and beyond, bringing a diverse range of barbecue styles and techniques to the table.
The competitors will be divided into three teams led by Bobby, Brooke, and Maneet. Judging duties will fall to a panel that includes Season 3 winner Rashad Jones, along with Adrienne Cheatham and Carson Kressley.
The season premiere will kick off with a signature challenge in which contestants must present their unique BBQ style in a single dish. The winner will earn the advantage of choosing their team captain, setting the stage for the competition ahead. From there, participants will face increasingly demanding challenges involving grills, smokers, open flames, and unexpected ingredients.
The finale, scheduled for July 6, will feature the final three contestants navigating a high-pressure gauntlet of mystery ingredients, testing both creativity and time management.
With Bobby’s track record of success on the show and Maneet entering as the defending champion, Brooke faces a formidable challenge in her new role. Still, her experience and determination make her a serious contender to disrupt the balance of power.
As Season 7 approaches, the combination of elite cooking talent and a real-life romance turned rivalry promises a thrilling and unpredictable ride for fans of BBQ Brawl.
