Emmerdale have confirmed a “fresh” new storyline for some of the women in the Yorkshire village, as they launch their first ladies darts team in the Woolpack pub.
Following the massive surge in popularity of darts, affectionately dubbed the “Luke Littler Effect,” the women of Emmerdale are setting up their very own Ladies Darts Team. Mirroring a trend sweeping across Yorkshire’s villages, this new storyline aims to inject fresh social dynamism back into the heart of the community: the village pub.
The founding members ready to step up to the oche are familiar faces: Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick), Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson), and Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker).
However, the team is quickly rounded out by the formidable presence of Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson), whose reputation for an “acerbic wit and deadly throw” is set to make them a force to be reckoned with.

Producer Sophie Roper explains the inspiration behind the new development: “We had heard local darts teams, particularly those made up of women, were springing up across Yorkshire. It felt right that the ladies of Emmerdale would mirror this by setting up their own pub darts team.
“With fewer people heading out mid-week, many rural pubs are finding times tough. These teams, much like pub quizzes, are a fantastic way of encouraging people back in to socialise face-to-face. And the Woolpack like other village pubs is a vital rural community hub”.

The storyline follows on from spoilers for next week, when Vanessa, Dr Todd, and Manpreet are all bonding in the pub when Mary suggests a doubles darts match and puts Todd and Vanessa on the same team.
It seems as though the menacing Dr Todd as her eyes set on a new target, and as the match commences, Vanessa’s oblivious to Todd’s flirting. But Todd later uses the opportunity to sew some untruths about Jacob. The next day Todd continues her subtle manipulations of people’s opinions of Jacob. The Woolpack ladies arrange another darts match.
