Coronation Street‘s Will Driscoll lashes out at his family again tonight after uncovering the big secret they’ve been keeping from him.
Will has been kept firmly in the dark over this week’s revelations surrounding the Driscolls and the McDonalds, but this proves to be a big mistake when someone accidentally gives the game away.
Wednesday’s episode sees Amy Barlow approach Will at the café, playfully asking him: “What’s up, cuz?”
When Will makes it clear that he has no idea what Amy is talking about, she digs herself further into a hole by adding: “As in, cousins? The offspring of grown-ups who are related? You know, like brother and sister, or in our case, brother and…”
Amy finally backtracks when it dawns on her that Will’s dad Ben hasn’t spoken to him about his newly-discovered connection to the McDonald family.
However, with the damage clearly already done, it’s left to Will’s older brother Ollie to fill in the blanks.
Already overwhelmed by the drama surrounding his inappropriate relationship with Megan Walsh, Will now has to process the news that Steve McDonald is his uncle.
There’s also the major concern that Ben’s father Jim had a genetic condition, which could have been passed down without anyone realising.
Storming into the pub to confront Ben later on, Will rants: “You couldn’t tell me? That you and Steve McDonald have the same dad.
“You made me look like an idiot. So, some guy with a genetic condition has sex with my grandmother and you don’t think I have the right to know? The guy died. We could die. Unbelievable.”
Could the latest revelations push Will back towards Megan, just when he really needs support from his family?
Back in 2016, Jim was diagnosed with myotonic dystrophy. This causes progressive muscle weakening and wasting – and can lead to heart problems. There is no cure, but its effects are varied and many people who have the condition have a normal life expectancy.
In recent weeks, Maggie Driscoll has become worried that Ben’s heart problems could be linked to the condition, but there’s so far been no confirmation either way.
