Carol went on to explain that the decision was fueled by a desire to spend more time with her husband, Steve Randall, whom she married at the end of 2023. “We only got married a couple of years ago and we’re ships that pass in the night,” she explained. “So I’m really looking forward to that.”

Carol, who also plans to focus on writing novels and travel, emphasized that while she loved her job, she loved her husband even more. “I love my job, but I love my husband more than my job,” she said.

“End of an Era” – Emotional Reactions from Fans and Colleagues

Carol’s tearful goodbye sparked an outpouring of emotion from colleagues and fans alike. Former BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker perfectly summed up the mood, tweeting: “End of an era.”

Others, like Victoria Derbyshire, simply posted: “Nooooooooo!”

Fans flooded social media with heartfelt tributes. One viewer shared, “Carol Kirkwood will always be the best weather presenter. She always brightens my day, always smiling and explaining storms so calmly. Will miss her so much.”

Another added, “Carol Kirkwood retiring? The only forecast left is clouds and tears.”

Carol’s departure marks the end of a cherished chapter for BBC Breakfast viewers. The familiar face of the weather desk will certainly be missed by many, but her fans are wishing her well as she steps into this next exciting phase of her life. 🌦️
