Giada De Laurentiis’s daughter, Jade, is helping her prepare for the Olympics.
“I got a really fun box today and Jade’s gonna look at it with me,” she begins the Instagram video, which she posted Monday, Feb. 2.
The celebrity chef, who’s traveling to Milan with NBC’s Today as a correspondent, revealed she’d received a package of Olympics swag from Ralph Lauren ahead of her big trip.
“This is so exciting,” the Giadzy founder, 55, said as she tried on a navy pom-pom hat and Jade pulled a matching “USA” sweater out of the box.
“I’ll be stealing all of this,” Jade told her mom. “I’m actually stealing all of this.”
De Laurentiis then lamented that her daughter wouldn’t be joining her on the Italian adventure.
“Jadie, I’m so bummed you’re not coming with me,” De Laurentiis said.
“Didn’t cop the invite,” Jade shot back, with a wink at the camera.
“Yes, I gave you the invite. You said you had school,” her mom noted.
De Laurentiis then told fans, “I’m gonna take you guys with me. It’s gonna be awesome. We’re just gonna miss Jadey. Go Team USA!”

The Super-Italian cookbook author told PEOPLE in January that she already has big culinary plans for the trip.
“I’m going to take people on a Milanese food tour through making fresh pasta and eating the best osso buco and the risotto alla Milanese and veal Milanese and all of the specialties that are from that region,” she said
“I’m going to teach the anchors how to make fresh pasta,” she added. “It’s going to be a whole really fun adventure.”
She’s also looking forward to visiting the Dolomites mountain range in northeastern Italy.
“I grew up skiing and I grew up going to Cortina and going to the Alps to ski and the Dolomites with my family, and it’s a big tradition,” she said.
Jade, 17, is heading to New York University in the fall, and the Food Network alum says college will be “a whole new chapter.”
“That moment of being a mom is sort of done,” she explained. “I’m not done, but she goes to college, so I’m not here day-to-day the way that it has been for 18 years, and so that’s a huge change.”
The proud mom said it feels “really weird” to be the mother of a soon-to-be college student.
“It’s really exciting, but I think it’s also incredibly emotional because everything I do with her I feel like is one of the last times I’m going to do it in this way,” she says of Jade, whose dad is her ex-husband, Todd Thompson. “I know people are like, ‘Yeah, but they come home for the holidays.’ But it’s different. They don’t live in your house anymore.”
