Beartbreaking details in the death of Anne Burrell have been shared by People, who obtained a report from the New York Police Department.
According to the report, the NYPD confirmed that there was a âsuicidal noteâ left behind in the primary bedroom of Burrellâs home in Brooklyn. The report stated that the note was found by an investigator after her death on June 17, 2025.

According to the police report, the investigator also discovered âsuicidalâ journal entries on a bed in the same room where the note was found.
The report noted that in the early morning hours of the day Burrell died, a redacted individual âmarried to Anneâ had ânoticed that the bed was made in their room which is not normal.â At the time of her death, the Food Network chef was married to Stuart Claxton, whom she met on the Bumble dating app in 2018, People reported.
According to the police report, Claxton found Burrell on the bathroom floor âwith a bunch of over-the-counter pills on the floor.â When he made an attempt to wake her up by âshaking her and slapping her face,â he was unable to bring her back to consciousness and immediately called 911.
Claxton told police that his wife had ânever attempted suicide in the pastâ and ânever talked about it,â per the NYPD report. He also stated that Burrell hadnât shown âany signs that she would do something like this.â
Five weeks after she died, Burrellâs cause of death was ruled a suicide from âacute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine,â and was determined by the New York City Medical Examinerâs Office, TMZ reported.

Burrellâs family released a statement following her death, describing the âWorst Cooks in Americaâ chef as someone who lit up every room she walked into with her boisterous, loving personality.
âAnne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend â her smile lit up every room she entered,â Burrellâs family said, according to the NYP. âAnneâs light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.â
