For seven years, Amanda Owen has been a symbol of resilience on British television — the calm, capable Yorkshire Shepherdess balancing life on a remote farm while raising nine children, often appearing unflappable and effortlessly put-together.

But behind the familiar smile, the last few years have been anything but easy.

A recent television appearance has now reignited concern among viewers, with many fans taking to social media to ask the same question: is Amanda really OK?

A life that looked idyllic — but wasn’t always easy

Amanda first captured the nation’s heart when Our Yorkshire Farm premiered, offering a rare glimpse into life on Ravenseat Farm. Her natural warmth, work ethic and ability to juggle farm duties with motherhood made her instantly relatable.

Yet long before the cameras arrived, Amanda’s life followed an unconventional path.

She met Clive Owen at just 21 years old, while training as a shepherdess. Though her striking looks and height led her briefly into modelling, Amanda quickly realised it wasn’t for her. Instead, she returned to farming — and to Clive.

The pair formed a relationship despite a 19-year age gap. By the time they met, Clive had already been married, divorced and was a father of two.

Together, they built a life — and a television phenomenon.

Fame, pressure… and a private breakdown

While Our Yorkshire Farm became a huge hit for Channel 5, success came with strain. Behind closed doors, cracks were forming in Amanda and Clive’s marriage.

In 2022, the couple announced they had separated, shocking fans who had viewed them as the backbone of the show’s rural fairytale.

Despite the split, Amanda and Clive continue to co-parent their nine children and are now reuniting on screen for a new spin-off, Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids.

But it was Amanda’s recent appearance on Lorraine that set alarm bells ringing.

“It’s not all sunshine”

Speaking candidly on the show, Amanda acknowledged that life — and her relationship with Clive — remains complicated.

“It’s not all sunshine,” she admitted, adding:

“It’s about moving forward. We’ve got plenty to amuse ourselves. There’s space. There’s room to get away from each other, if we’re being absolutely brutally honest.”

She continued with disarming honesty:

“If we got on like a house on fire, we wouldn’t be separate, would we? But the fact of the matter is, we’ve got nine children. Reality comes with its ups and downs.”

Amanda summed it up simply:

“It’s not all sunshine and springtime. That’s the reality. We’re just getting on with our lives and making it up as we go along.”

Fans voice their worries

While many praised Amanda’s honesty, others felt uneasy.

According to reports, viewers flooded social media with comments questioning her wellbeing.
One wrote: “Is Amanda OK? Something doesn’t seem right.”
Others said she didn’t appear like her usual self, noting she seemed tired and subdued.

A scandal that brought fresh scrutiny

Amanda’s life in the public eye became even more complicated in 2023, when details emerged about her relationship with Robert Davies, a web designer who had worked with the farm.

At the time, Davies was married to Yasumi, who later spoke publicly about discovering the affair and the devastation it caused.

In a candid interview, Yasumi accused Amanda of living a “double life”, claiming:

“He rang Amanda in front of me and told her I knew about their affair and that it was over… instead of acknowledging my pain, he was more concerned about protecting her TV career.”

She added that Amanda showed “no compassion”, saying she had been misled by the wholesome image presented on television.

Amanda’s response: “It wasn’t a secret”

Amanda has strongly disputed claims of deception.

Speaking to Mail Online in 2023, she insisted the relationship was never hidden from Clive and that their marriage had already changed by that point.

“I never set out looking for another relationship,” she said.
“Rob was a friend Clive and I had both known for a long time. He helped with the farm website and the digital side of the business.”

She added:

“What he offered was conversation rather than confrontation — and Clive knew about it from the very beginning. He actually suggested Rob and I would be a good match.”

Amanda also revealed that at the time, Clive was openly seeing someone else, and that the situation was known within the family.

“It wasn’t a secret,” she said. “Everyone around knew — even the children.”

Still standing — but clearly changed

Despite the controversies, the separation, and the public scrutiny, Amanda remains a central figure in rural British television — admired for her honesty, strength and refusal to sugar-coat reality.

Yet her recent  TV appearance has made one thing clear: the years have taken their toll.

As fans continue to watch closely, many are hoping that behind the calm words and practical outlook, Amanda is receiving the support she needs — even if she insists she’s simply “making it up as we go along.”
