Jesy Nelson has given fans a glimpse of happier moments by sharing a collection of sun-soaked holiday photos, just weeks after opening up about the emotional toll of her campaign for newborn spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) screening.
The 35-year-old singer posted a series of bikini throwback snaps from a recent getaway with friends, simply captioning the images: “Take me back.” The carefree post came after one of the most difficult periods of her life as she continues to fight for wider newborn testing across England.
Jesy has become a passionate advocate since revealing earlier this year that her one-year-old twins, Ocean and Story, were diagnosed with SMA Type 1, a rare genetic condition that causes severe muscle weakness. Since then, she has worked to raise awareness and push for routine newborn screening, arguing that earlier diagnosis can dramatically improve outcomes for affected babies.
Last month, Jesy attended a parliamentary debate sparked by a petition she launched that attracted more than 150,000 signatures. However, the outcome left her devastated.
Current plans mean newborn SMA screening will initially be introduced in around 72% of England from October, while the remaining areas are expected to join later as additional NHS laboratories become equipped to provide the testing.

The singer revealed in January her now one-year-old twins, Ocean and Story, had been diagnosed with SMA Type 1, a rare muscle-wasting condition
Speaking after the debate, an emotional Jesy admitted she felt “heartbroken” and “outraged,” saying she could not understand why access to potentially life-changing screening should depend on where a baby is born.

After recently returning from a sunny holiday with her pals, Jesy shared a series of snaps from the trip while dressed in a skimpy bikini

The singer showed off her curves in an array of fun holiday looks, including a revealing white bikini top and a denim skirt

Last month, Jesy shared she’d been left ‘heartbroken and outraged’ as she vowed to ‘keep on fighting’ after attending parliament for the MPs’ debate on SMA screening from birth

Devastatingly the result of the debate was not what Jesy and the SMA community had hoped for and as it stands only 72 per cent of the country will have access to newborn screening
She argued that early diagnosis allows babies to receive treatment before symptoms develop, giving many the chance to lead significantly healthier lives.
The former Little Mix star later shared an emotional message on social media, revealing how difficult it has been caring for her twins while continuing to campaign for change. She described the daily challenges her family faces and pledged to keep speaking out for children affected by the condition.
Despite the disappointment, Jesy insisted she has no intention of giving up, promising supporters that she will continue fighting until every newborn has equal access to SMA screening.
While her latest holiday photos offered a rare moment of escape from the pressures of campaigning, they also served as a reminder of the strength she has shown over the past year as she balances motherhood with her determination to help other families facing the same diagnosis.
