Emmerdale comes back with a bang next week as Robert Sugden decides to confess everything to an overwhelmed Moira and baby Leyla is home meaning Jacob and Sarah are trying to adjust to parenthood.

Last week, Moira finally returned home after spending weeks in prison thanks to Joe Tate’s recent ploy to have one over the Dingle’s. Of course, her freedom has been dampened by Cain’s prostate cancer diagnosis as the pair struggle to connect.

Charity has managed to keep her baby secret hidden for this long, but after a traumatic birth led to her almost losing her life, could things get trickier to manage now that Leyla is home?

Robert confesses all to Moira…

Cain is frustrated Moira is at her old farm rather than helping him, there is a growing distance between them. Despite Robert’s protests, Moira insists on helping, which only heightens Robert’s guilt. Later, sensing something amiss about his behaviour, Moira pushes him for the truth and Robert confesses he planted the IDs that led to her imprisonment. He explains how Joe Tate blackmailed him with a video of Victoria killing John.

 

oira is devastated by his revelation and issues him an ultimatum: he must go to the police, or she will. Before long Aaron is shocked Robert has confessed and rushes to find her and beg for her silence. With the aim of keeping Cain calm ahead of his upcoming operation, Moira decides to keep the truth from him.

Later, when Aaron reminds Moira that Robert is not the only one to blame, soon furious Moira heads to confront Joe with a shotgun at Home Farm. Graham interrupts but Moira stands her ground furious at Joe for his actions regarding Robert and the farm.

Dawn demands to know more…

At the pub, Aaron advises Cain to reconcile with Moira before his surgery. The next day, (in a unique episode dealing with Cain and Moira’s relationship) Cain struggles to express his fears while visiting Zak’s grave. Liam is concerned and heads to see if he can help.

Meanwhile in the pub backroom a distraught Moira confides in Chas about her fractured relationship with her husband. Cain soon makes a significant admission to Liam. And later, Liam informs Moira and Chas, Cain plans to cancel his cancer surgery. Can anyone stop him from making this decision? When Pollard later approaches Cain by Zak’s grave he soon shares his own fears about the future. Will Pollard’s words hit home?

The next day, when Moira spots pensive Dawn out for a walk she can’t help but confront her about Joe, which leaves Dawn shaken. Later, Dawn seeks out Moira to find out more and Moira explains it was Joe who was solely responsible for her imprisonment and Dawn urges Moira to tell her everything she knows.

Jacob and Sarah start their new life as parents…

Sarah and Jacob are overwhelmed with becoming Leyla’s official parents. That afternoon, Jacob and Sarah welcome baby Leyla home.

The next day: Jacob and Sarah enjoy time with Leyla when Ross and Mackenzie arrive with a gift from Moses. Ross is awkward, reluctant to hold the baby, but Jacob insists on inviting him and Moses to their family gathering later.

There’s fresh hope for Bear…

Young Eve is upset by gossip about Paddy’s arrest, leading Paddy to bravely tell her he may go to prison for helping her Grandad. A heartbroken Eve begs him not to leave.

Mandy, witnessing Paddy’s distress, impulsively suggests letting Bear take the blame, disgusting Paddy who storms out. Mandy finds him, they reconcile, and despite their fear about the impending trial, Mandy firmly commits to Paddy. During his visit to the prison, Paddy tries to comfort an anxious Bear who is spiralling about the bank account that the police found. They are both shocked to see Simo, whom Bear thought had been murdered.

Paddy hopes Simo will testify for Bear. Outside the prison, Paddy pleads with Simo, but Simo refuses. While Simo admits Bear doesn’t deserve prison, he fears the impact on his own mental health. With the trial ahead, Paddy is left worrying. Paddy is not optimistic as he looks out over the village worried what the future will bring.

Overwhelmed, alone, Paddy stands in the doorway to Tenants and takes a good look at the village he has called home for decades, wondering whether tonight will be his last night there.

Elsewhere in the village…

Jacob is finding it awkward with Dr Todd ever present. Later, Vanessa, Dr Todd, and Manpreet are all bonding in the pub when Mary suggests a doubles darts match and puts Todd and Vanessa on the same team.

As the match commences, Vanessa’s oblivious to Todd’s flirting. But Todd later uses the opportunity to sew some untruths about Jacob. The next day Todd continues her subtle manipulations of people’s opinions of Jacob. The Woolpack ladies arrange another darts match.
