Prince Harry is “better off” without his wife, Meghan Markle, as the Duke carries out his bombshell trip back to the UK, it has been claimed. The Duke of Sussex returned to Britain earlier this week to begin a five-day trip filled with engagements linked to his patronages.

Harry’s main aim for his visit is to mark the one year to go until the Invictus Games in Birmingham. The King’s younger son was due to be joined by his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children; however, the Sussex family pulled out at the eleventh hour due to security concerns. Now, a PR expert has weighed in on why it’s better that Harry’s wife has not accompanied him to London this week.

Nick Ede, a Brand and Culture expert, told the Daily Express: “Meghan choosing not to accompany Prince Harry to the UK is probably the smartest move for both her personal brand and the Invictus Games.

“The focus should always be on the competitors, the veterans and the extraordinary stories of resilience that make Invictus such an important event.”

Mr Ede said that the duchess “inevitably” attracts attention wherever she attends, and that without her, Harry is more likely to shift the spotlight where it belongs: on the veterans.

He explained: “Whenever Meghan attends, the conversation inevitably shifts towards what she’s wearing, body language, family tensions and the state of the Sussexes’ relationship with the Royal Family.

“Without her there, Harry has a better chance of putting the spotlight back where it belongs.”

It is still unclear whether the Duchess will attend any of the scheduled engagements during Harry’s trip.

While it was understood that she would not be joining him in London, there was still a chance that she could travel with him to events elsewhere, including Birmingham.
