Body of woman found on popular UK beach as cops probe ‘unexplained’ death
A BODY of a woman has been found on a popular beach as cops probe the “unexplained” death.
Police were called to the scene on Seaburn beach, Tyne and Wear, early this morning.
Officers and emergency services arrived on the beach after being called at around 5am.
Cops are remaining in the area as they try to formally identify the body and notify the woman’s next of kin.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Just after 5am today (Friday), we received a report that the body had been found on Seaburn Beach in Whitburn.
“Emergency services attended the scene where the body of a woman was sadly located.
“A police presence is currently in the area and enquiries are underway to formally identify the person and notify their next of kin.
“The woman’s death is currently being treated as unexplained.”
